When screen resolution was a humble 640 x 480 pixels, a 14” CRT monitor was more than sufficient. Computers then were generally used for documents consisting of text and numbers, not graphics.
But once people could view photos, videos, and movies on computers, resolutions needed to increase, and with it, screen sizes, as images with heavy graphics require more pixels to view them optimally on screen.
Bigger display, clearer images
A larger screen makes it easier to see details in photos, color accuracy, brightness, and sharpness. So, from 14”, display sizes expanded – from 17”, 20”, 24”, 27” to 32” – and even higher. Now, there are models available measuring up to 45”.
A larger screen size means a higher resolution. If 640 x 480 pixels was the standard before, it is now 1280 x 720 pixels for high-definition images. There is a higher resolution - 1920 x 1080 pixels - for full high definition (FHD).
Monitor sizes have grown over time. The smallest today is 24”, but for multitasking, you’ll probably need a 44.5” screen.
Purpose and workspace are two crucial factors in selecting screen size. For some users, 27" or 32" is big enough for work and play.
And unless the job is graphics-heavy, a massive screen is hardly practical. A monitor size of 40" or more - roughly the size of television screens - is more suited for users who multitask and need multiple screens.
Who needs large screens?
Businesses with several surveillance cameras will benefit from a large display to view four or even six screens simultaneously. A serious multitasker will certainly go for a big screen for convenience.
Graphic designers, video content creators, and other creative professionals will appreciate a display size of 40” and above. With a much higher resolution, colors, texture, and lifelike images are best viewed on a big screen.
Hardcore gamers and movie enthusiasts will also enjoy larger screens. If there is ample space at home to set this up for an immersive entertainment experience, go for 40” or even 45”.
Philips Monitors offers three models of 40" displays, and two of 44.5", any one of them is suitable for work and entertainment.
They make them big now, and curved, too. These large monitors are perfect for creative work.
The Big 5
The 40B1U5600 and 40B1U5601H models under the Business Monitor Line are nearly similar. They share UltraWide Quad HD displays with 3440 x 1440 pixels resolution for crystal clear images with wide 178/178 angle to prevent distortion whichever position you sit to view the screen.
A third variant for the 40" screen is the 40B1U6903CH, which has even better specifications: a curved UltraWide 5K/2K screen (5120 x 2160 pixels) for deeper color depth translating to sharper images.
The 40B1U6903CH also stands above the rest as it is one of the few models with the Thunderbolt™ 4 connectivity, which allows the transfer of data at 40Gbps speed while playing high-resolution video, delivering 90W of power, and charging other devices, all with a single cable.
Philips Monitors offers two models for a much bigger display - the 45B1U6900C and 45B1U6900CH, with 44.5" of viewable space.
Shared features
They have similar specifications and features except for one: the 45B1U6900CH has a built-in pop-up 5MP Windows Hello-compatible webcam with a microphone.
It is a feature shared with the 40B1U5601H, allowing seamless online meetings and collaboration without additional peripherals.
Built-in webcams make it so much easier to communicate and collaborate online without additional peripherals.
Like the 40B1U6903CH, the two 45" models are curved UltraWide screens with a 5K/2K resolution. The high resolution plus curved screen makes viewing much more immersive, whether for creative work or entertainment.
With its massive wide view, having either model is like using two 27" displays with a 16:9 aspect ratio that can replace a multiscreen set-up.
Savings, comfort, protection
Both models have a PowerSensor built in to help save up to 80% in energy costs. This feature automatically reduces monitor brightness once it senses the user has stepped away from the screen. Not only does it translate to savings in electricity bills, but it also prolongs monitor life.
One feature shared among the five models is the MultiClient Integrated KVM switch that easily controls two devices or computers using only a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. It does away with setting up other peripherals while using multiple sources.
All these displays are designed with technology to protect and provide comfort to users. Flicker-free, LowBlue Mode, and EasyRead are all to prevent eye strain and fatigue, while its ergonomic SmartErgoBase stand swivels, tilts, and is height-adjustable for the most ideal position for users.
Size is not all that matters when it comes to creatives. Going big comes with the latest technology to ensure images are just as sharp and colors so vivid that it is always an exceptional experience to when using large-size monitors.
